I observed this young woman at the Van Gogh in Amsterdam viewing the painting of the Yellow House. I thought her yellow shoes were wonderful.

kevin, thanks for referring me to this piece and giving me the background on it....gives a fuller explanation to her contemplative pose . i identify with the drips in the sunny yellow background....she had to be looking at vangogh...i feel and see the tears!

Charles mentions Klimt, and I am also reminded of Klimt by the fabric pattern in this young woman's tunic. I love that, with her yellow shoes - Crocs, I think; and the soft earthier colors of the background, and the black of her tights.

once again inline with the others and their comments. Reminds me of a modern Gutav Klimt or even Egon Schiele in a more reserved posture than was normal for him. this is no way to suggest derivation just a similar visual dialect. Very well done - my favorite so far.

My philosophy is simple: Composition, Story, Elegant Line. "If you find the elegant line, your work will be lyrical." I produce works in pencil, acrylic, watercolor, found objects, and digital photography. I completed a Painting Intensive at the San Francisco Art Institute, studying with world renown Israeli artist Larry Abramson and at at the Ox-Bow School of the Art Institute Chicago under Phil Hanson and Michelle Grabner. I earned my BFA from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. My studies included an emphasis in painting and printmaking.
