Following the Rain Canvas Print

In 2004 I was heading out for my annual trip to Iowa. It had been raining for days and when I left San Diego the rain stayed just ahead of me. From San Diego through Las Vegas then the long stretch of desert between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. Suddenly the sun was everywhere and the rainbows popped out all across the wasteland before me. I was in a hurry but I took the time for this shot.

My philosophy is simple: Composition, Story, Elegant Line. "If you find the elegant line, your work will be lyrical." I produce works in pencil, acrylic, watercolor, found objects, and digital photography. I completed a Painting Intensive at the San Francisco Art Institute, studying with world renown Israeli artist Larry Abramson and at at the Ox-Bow School of the Art Institute Chicago under Phil Hanson and Michelle Grabner. I earned my BFA from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. My studies included an emphasis in painting and printmaking.
